excel - Why is Outlook 2010 opening file hyperlinks in Internet Explorer? -

i have several emails sent me each day contain hyperlink local file in directory.
open link in excel instead opens internet explorer , says 'internet explorer cannot display webpage'
there way can change opens in excel , not ie?

check excel default program file extension. alternatively edit hyperlink start "c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\excel.exe" file path following. (make sure edit path version of excel.
