php - Giving Ownership/Rights properly on Ubuntu/Linux -

i'm facing alot of issues giving rights/ownership on zend server.

chown user -r path/to/file

and

giving 777 fodlers , file end lots of 777... not needing 777, if there user zend server, hope give ownership .... dont have 777 many stuff

so far giving rights/ownership fixing , creating issues zend servers ...which why 'm here :(

i'm having issue debugging, when error occurs i'm not sure how check caused it. read forums people doing -debug behing command. i'm not sure file give permission to. realise zend server user believe...

any advice or guide appreciated.

i have these users

zend:x:106:112::/usr/local/zend/gui/lighttpd/:/bin/false root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash

and many others. think daemon , zend related zend server.

just note when giving permission web server.

permissions simple. have remember there read write , execute permission in *nix. won't need execute permission in of script files folders must have execute permission. leaves read , write permissions. need read permission files , folders. need write permission folders , files need changed web server. need read write , execute permissions temp folder, , if using file upload folder store files. may need have write permission files needs changed web server (for simple sites these may not there).
