after months using intellij java development amazed how ide can make easier work/life.
as program in c++, looking ide marks difference as, point of view, intellij when compared eclipse. c++ ide has compatible linux environments , gcc , prefer free software solutions.
until have 2 candidates, codelite , kdevelop, have feedback developers have worked ides long time and/or in real projects.

i have used kdevelop while has few ... issues (for example, segfault when did "rm -fr *" in build directory , attempted rebuild in kdevelop, , segfault randomly while editing code). stopped using when after crash no longer start again.
a nice alternative netbeans c++: has decent interface, lighter weight eclipse , comes sensible default settings (as opposed eclipse).
